UIEngine showcasing Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting on Android
UIE Japan partnered with MMBI (Multimedia Broadcasting, Inc) to showcase next generation broadcast media services “multimedia broadcasting” at Wireless Japan 2010 in the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight), July 14-16.
The Android-based application built on the UIEngine is a concept model that combines innovative UI/UX design with new broadcast media services from MMBI to deliver a rich multimedia mobile experience with audio, video, images and data. The application also utilizes the Android accelerometer to respond to users tilting the handset in order to navigate through menus and features.
Mobile broadcasting allows the transfer of data from the server to the client uni-directionally allowing service providers to offload traffic from the general 3G/LTE network to the broadcasting network. The MMBI service offers a wide variety of broadcast contents (television programs, music programs and more), that are automatically stored on mobile phones, enabling them to be viewed anytime, anywhere. The File Casting Service from MMBI uses communication networks to enhance broadcast contents that are not fully received due to poor wave conditions and unlike conventional channels, frequencies do not need to be divided. Streaming and file casting can be flexibly combined for a specific time or time period, allowing for the more efficient use of frequencies.
