The Associated Press Selects UIEvolution to Extend AP Mobile to Consumers Using the New Samsung Mobile Widget SDK

The Associated Press today announced that it has teamed up with UIEvolution (UIE) to offer AP Mobile news on devices with Samsung’s unique TouchWiz™ user interface using the new Samsung Mobile Widget SDK. The AP Mobile news widget will enable users to access the latest headlines and stories for national, international, sports, entertainment, health, science, technology and other news from the AP through an easy-to-use widget.

“This new news widget is a really easy way for consumers to get a snapshot of the breaking news right on their mobile home screens, and it furthers our goal to make AP the ‘news’ source of choice across all emerging mobile platforms,” said Jeff Litvack, AP’s general manager of mobile and emerging products.

The AP Mobile widget was built using UIEvolution’s UI design studio to provide consumers with a clean design that is engaging and simple to navigate on touchscreen devices. In addition, by utilizing the new Samsung Mobile Widget SDK based on the open source Eclipse development environment, the AP Mobile widget will be available across Samsung’s feature-rich line up of TouchWiz handsets, including Windows Mobile, Symbian and Java.

“With the launch of our Samsung Mobile Widget SDK, we are excited to see industry leaders like The Associated Press engage users with real-time news and information widgets on our TouchWiz devices,” said Gavin Kim, vice president, content & data devices and enterprise enablement, Samsung Mobile. “UIEvolution allows us to open the TouchWiz platform and provide our customers with timely, relevant information and content from resources they trust and care about most.”

“We are thrilled to help facilitate the entrance of award-winning content from The Associated Press to Samsung’s TouchWiz handsets,” said Chris Ruff, CEO of UIEvolution. “Our vision is to enable users to streamline their daily lives; what the user determines is meaningful news is top priority and accessible right at their finger tips.”

The Samsung Mobile Widget SDK will be showcased at CTIA I.T. & Entertainment, October 7-9, at the San Diego Convention Center in Samsung’s Booth #635. Visit www.innovator.samsungmobile.com to download the Samsung Mobile Widget SDK.
