Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) U.S. A., Inc. and UIEvolution today announced a partnership to bring Toyota drivers a new connected application experience in the vehicle.

As part of the focus of the program on integrating core, pre-loaded applications, UIEvolution joins the ranks along with five other companies  in Qualcomm’s 3Pre program for the new Brew® Mobile Platform (Brew MP™) . According to the press release on GoMo News this morning, “Qualcomm is committed to advancing the reach of Brew MP, and subsequently delivering richer applications and better experiences to consumers using a range of devices across the world’s largest markets,” said Mitch Oliver, vice president of ecosystem development for Qualcomm.

Chris Ruff responds in the article, once again surmising why UIEvolution continues to build and strengthen these strategic ties, “UIEvolution has been working with Qualcomm since the early days of Brew, and with the launch of Brew MP we are able to extend our UIEngine products to deliver a truly compelling mobile experience,” said Chris Ruff, chief executive officer of UIEvolution. In the summer of 2005, we devoted a day to helping build at the Avondale, Redmond  Habitat for Humanity site. Now, almost 5 years later we spent our lunch break on April 15th reminiscing about our ‘first.’ Some recalled how hot it was, the jobs we were assigned, who was there, what we had that day for lunch, and how far along the project was. All agreed on the impact it had on us as a company and as individuals. For the past year, we have been planning and looking forward to our return. It was especially those who were there for our Avondale build who were first to put their name down on our list of volunteers. Habitat is a one-day commitment, but one you can’t seem to do just once.

This Tuesday, John Cary introduced an eager group of Husky computer science and engineer students to the role of UIEvolution in the mobile technology world. The day held a few surprises for all. While we expected a good turnout, we were shocked by the number of students who were drawn by the intriguing resume of clients and projects we brought to The Paul G. Allen Center Atrium (and perhaps a few drawn by the smell of pepperoni- let’s be honest, college students love free pizza). Perhaps the most surprised was Noe Khalfa, our raffle winner who walked away with a new iPad. See the Full Post »

Topic included the hyper focus this year on consumer-oriented location-based social networking applications, how people can manage access to their location and still leverage compelling location services and the role legal policies will play in shaping how we use an individual’s location information.
