UIEvolution® Revolutionizes Cross-Platform Development for Rich Media, Information and Entertainment
UIEngine™ Version 2.0 Features Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Based on Eclipse Open Source Platform
April 5, 2006 — Las Vegas, NV
UIEvolution today launched UIEngine Version 2.0, the update to their powerful technology platform for creating light-weight, rich applications and content for any device and network.
UIEvolution's UIEngine Version 2.0 specifically addresses the growing number of network-connected devices - from mobile phones, digital cameras, and audio players to portable game players - and wide variety of features, enabling development and deployment of content to more powerful mobile and broadband networks.
"UIEvolution's UIEngine continues to make it easy for content providers and developers to quickly develop and deploy applications across a range of devices and networks," said Chris Ruff, president of UIEvolution. "With UIEngine Version 2.0, developers can create more feature-rich applications to run on even more devices, beyond just mobile phones."
When a user downloads an application, UIEngine does not install any application-specific code on the target device. This significantly reduces maintenance and support requirements. Live application data lives on the server, but sends only the application logic, text and images to the device. UIE Player, the small, client side player on the device, reads the most current data and displays it properly on the device.
UIEngine Version 2.0 delivers several advantages for operators, developers and publishers. For example:
- The technology runs on more than 450 devices and 20 software platforms, reducing development costs and accelerating application availability. These include mobile devices (mobile phones, PDAs and smart phones), embedded UIs (set-top boxes, mobile phones, MP3 players and digital cameras) and connected server applications for consumers and enterprise users;
- UIEngine Version 2.0 extends more easily to support new device-specific features, such as audio and video that are becoming more common in the marketplace.
- UIEngine Version 2.0 enables developers to create smaller applications that save device memory and processor capacity, yet still offer a powerful user experience. Content can be customized for individual content owners or network operators to deliver unique, branded user experience.
UIEngine Version 2.0 is designed to easily integrate with the component-based tools architecture of the Eclipse open source software platform, providing developers with the flexibility to assemble custom toolsets, according to their unique requirements and target markets.
A free version of UIEvolution's latest software development kit UIE SDK Version 2.0 is now available featuring an integrated development environment (IDE) based on the Eclipse platform, full-featured debugging environment, emulation skins for the most popular devices, and support for components. In addition, UIE SDK provides open access to all UIEvolution tools and UIEngine players. UIEvolution also provides free test UIE Player software for instant testing of applications running on PC, Mac and Sprint mobile phone devices. The SDK features a new integrated development environment (IDE) based on Eclipse open source software framework, device emulation skins for the most popular devices, and open access to all UIEvolution tools and UIEngine players. The software can be downloaded from developer.uievolution.com.
